St Edmund’s Catholic Primary SchoolTeaching Assistant SEND

Teaching Assistant:    32.5 hrs per week

Salary:                         Grade 3 Point 7 (£24, 293 pro rata)

St Edmund's Catholic Primary School is expanding its team of teaching assistants who will be part of the SEND unit (The Nest) which opened in September 2022. We wish to appoint caring, enthusiastic assistants who will be able to support the learning of individuals and small groups of pupils with complex Special Educational Needs and disabilities; including intimate care and with limited language and communication.  Previous experience of working with children who sometimes demonstrate challenging behaviour in an educational setting is essential and knowledge of Makaton, PECS and Elklan would be an advantage. The post will also include some additional lunchtime supervision and may include cover for breakfast or afterschool club.

You will join a team of experienced teaching assistants who are supported by the unit lead, head of school, SENDco and Speech Therapist. Professional development and training are provided regularly.

The Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to demonstrate this commitment in every aspect of their work.  The successful candidate will need to undertake a DBS check.
